Wreath Witherspoon was first referenced on Mindy Kaling’s show The Mindy Project in 2014. Season 3, Episode 11 (“Christmas”) showed a wreath decorated with photos of actress Reese Witherspoon. Mindy refers to it, in a pun on words, as a “Wreath Witherspoon.”
The internet (including me, a pun-loving person on the internet), fell in love with this pun and began creating and sharing their own Wreath Witherspoons each holiday season.
I’ve even seen Kaling and Witherspoon (who are friends in real life) get in on the fun and re-share the pun each Christmas.
How to Make a Wreath Witherspoon
All you need to do in order to make a Wreath Witherspoon is simply decorate a festive holiday wreath with images of Reese Witherspoon and/or decorations inspired by her.
A longtime fan of both actresses, I’ve upgraded my own Wreath Witherspoon this year by adding to my collection of book ornaments. (Yes, I’ve made several over the years.)
