The Body Wash BLEW ME AWAY, and it remains my favorite Necessaire shower product over time to date. It’s so incredibly luxurious and softly perfumed, in addition to its key ingredients. First, there are so many great things to say about Necessaire in terms of its “clean” ingredients, its environmental commitments, and more, that it’s hard to convey in summary form. Here are a few things that make Necessaire and its products great.
Necessaire products are clean. They don’t contain parabens, phthalates, sulfates, silicones, petro-chemicals, synthetic fragrances, or synthetic dyes. All Necessaire products are hypoallergenic and dermatologist-tested. Several products are fragrance-free for sensitive skin. Necessaire products do not contain any animal-derived ingredients. They are working on their vegan certification.

The Body Wash
About: The Body Wash is the beloved Allure Best of Beauty Winner (plus the winner of soo many more awards), and it has a very loyal cult following, including me. If you heard someone mention that they love a Necessaire product, it’s probably this one, which is considered to be a holy grail body wash.
The Body Wash is packed with niacinamide, vitamin C, vitamin E, omega-6, and omega-9. It’s formulated without sulfates, silicones, parabens, and PEGs.
Pros: The Body Wash is hands down my favorite Necessaire product. I was initially skeptical that a body wash could really be that good, and worth the price, but I simply adored it. It’s so rich and luxurious, without being overpowering at the same time. The cleanliness and vitamin-rich ingredients are an added bonus.
I tried to live without The Body Wash, I but simply could not. I missed it every day I didn’t have it, and I decided it was just one of those things I will always feel is “worth” a few extra dollars for me.
Cons: The cost. It’s a lot for body wash, without a doubt. One cost-saving option is to buy the jumbo-sized refill, which saves you $10 and/or to use my code JULESB10 for 10% off.
Will I buy it again?: 100% yes. I have bought several bottles of The Body Wash already and I can’t imagine myself without it. It’s simply the best simple joy to use every day.
The Body Lotion
About: The Body Lotion is another award-winning, fan-favorite product from Necessaire. It contains niacinamide, vitamin C, vitamin E, omega-6, and omega-9.
Pros: The Body Lotion is neither too thick nor too thin, and it’s not greasy at all. It also absorbs better than the last lotion I used and doesn’t leave any residue behind. I love that I can still notice its effects up to 24 hours later. It’s a fantastic product loved by many, especially those with sensitive skin who need a truly fragrance-free product.
Cons: I don’t have sensitive skin, so I personally wish it came scented too. The price tag is on the higher end, but I don’t find it to be too unreasonable for a quality moisturizer of a good size. And, you can always use my code JULESB10 to get 10% off.
Will I buy it again?: 100% yes. I have grown to absolutely love The Body Lotion as part of my regular routine, both because of how nice and easy is to use and how soft my skin stays until my next shower. I especially like the fact that I layer it with Necessaire’s The Body Wash, which is a daily staple product for me. I like using products from the same brand together.
The Body Oil
About: The Body Oil is an award-winning, nutrient-rich, organic, cold-pressed treatment oil with no additives. It’s made of sweet almond oil, calophyllum inophyllum seed oil, hazelnut seed oil, macadamia seed oil, and sclerocarya birrea seed oil. These oils contain vitamin B7, vitamin C, vitamin E, omega-6, omega-7, omega-9, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and zinc.
Pros: I adore The Body Oil. I use it on its own during my bath routine, and I often put some drops in the bath as well to soak into my skin on its own. I also add it to products like The Body Lotion when I am extra dry. It soaks in surprisingly fast so you never actually feel greasy, and it leaves your skin feeling smooth and moisturized overnight. It’s a skincare essential for me that I use all the time.
Cons: The Body Oil is often sold out. If you see it in stock and are interested, grab it!
Will I buy it again?: 100% yes. The Body Oil has become a multi-functional, daily staple product for me, especially in the cold months. I will probably use it less in the Summer though.
The Body Exfoliator
About: Next up in this Necessaire review is The Body Exfoliator, another award-winning product that contains bamboo charcoal, pumice, glycolic acid, lactic acid, and salicylic acid. It’s good for KP (keratosis pilaris), uneven texture, uneven tone, and crepiness.
Pros: The Body Exfoliator is great for weekly or bi-weekly use. I love that it contains both physical and chemical exfoliants, which I haven’t seen in other exfoliators. The physical exfoliators are really tiny and gentle, and the gel holding them turns nice and foamy when you lather it. I also love that it comes in all three scents plus fragrance-free so I can layer it with The Body Wash. It’s an excellent, thoughtfully designed product overall.
Cons: The only con I have is that it’s more expensive than my previous exfoliator. But, again, you can save a few dollars when you use my code JULESB10 for 10% off.
Will I buy it again?: Yes. I like The Body Exfoliator better than my previous exfoliator, I’m impressed by the many exfoliating ingredients it contains, and I like how I can pair the scent with The Body Wash.
The Body Serum
About: The Body Serum is an award-winning hydration treatment that’s jam-packed with niacinamide, five types of hyaluronic acid, and ceramide NP. It’s good for dryness, crepiness, and eczema (it’s an accepted product by the National Eczema Association).
Pros: The Body Serum is a super fast-absorbing and lightweight gel. I like to think of it more like a light moisturizer than a serum. It also contains all of the ingredients that are known to deliver results.
Cons: I personally have never seen a difference in any body serum. That being said, I have also never gotten in the swing of using it enough to see the benefits of it firsthand. The Body Serum is also priced on the high side of Necessaire products, but you can use my code JULESB10 for 10% off.
Will I buy it again?: Yes. Logically, I know the ingredients are really good for my skin, and I like having a lighter option for moisturizing.
The Shampoo & The Conditioner
About: The Shampoo and The Conditioner are Allure Best of Beauty winners, and they are impressive products, particularly for those with dry or sensitive skin concerns.
The Shampoo is infused with 7 molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, vitamin B3 (niacinamide), vitamin B5 and aloe vera leaf extract for a deep cleanse.
The Conditioner is infused with 7 molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, vitamin B3 (niacinamide), vitamin B5 and celery seed extract for a deep condition. There are no sulfates, no silicones, no parabens, and no PEGs.
They are good for dryness, sensitivity, and eczema (accepted by The National Eczema Association), and they are also safe for color-treated hair. Clinical studies revealed results of more hydration and less itchiness and flakiness.
Pros: When I am using a sulfate-free shampoo, I always judge it by how well it creates suds (which unclean sulfates would normally create). The Shampoo delivered a good amount of suds for a relatively small amount of product, and The Conditioner worked fine for me. They both washed out well and my hair felt squeaky clean afterward, which is not always the case, and I test out a lot of shampoo samples.
Lastly, they are priced comparably to other high-end products, and you can save when you buy them together (The Hair Duo), as well as 10% off with my code JULESB10.
Cons: I would like to see The Shampoo come in a larger size and/or refill option since I use it up before conditioner. I would also like to see both come in scents, as they are both fragrance-free, but I also understand that this product caters more to sensitive skin consumers.
Will I buy it again?: Yes. I have grown to love The Shampoo and The Conditioner overall. The Shampoo in particular meets my two biggest requirements for clean shampoo — it suds really well and washes out really well.
I would still be open to continuing to test other brands or going back to other ones that have worked well for me, at the same time. I personally would be mostly driven by who’s having a good sale at the time I need new shampoo and/or conditioner.
But, I also think that if you have skin issues, this one may be a “must try” for you.
The Body Detox Bar
About: Next up in this Necessaire review is The Body Detox Bar, a physical exfoliation soap bar for the skin. It contains black sand, niacinamide (vitamin B3), vitamin B5, vitamin C, vitamin E, omega-6, omega-9, and charcoal. It’s good for keratosis pilaris and unevenness.
Pros: The Body Detox Bar is another multi-exfoliant with both physical and chemical exfoliants that are proven to deliver nutrition and results. It also serves as a cleanser and is cheaper than its alternative, The Body Exfoliator.
Cons: This is more of a personal con, but I am just not into soap bars because I find them to be messy to maintain. I also prefer the extra suds of The Body Exfoliator, which is a gel.
Will I buy it again?: No. I don’t really have any issues with The Body Detox Bar other than the fact that it’s a bar and not body wash, which I prefer. However, the ingredients in this bar are stellar from a quality standpoint, so if you are into soap bars, it would be more worth it to you than to me.
The Deodorant Gel
About: The Deodorant Gel contains 5% AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) and niacinamide to combat odor, treat discoloration, and minimize bumps. The Deodorant Gel is stain-free and mess-free. It is a clean deodorant that contains no aluminum, no baking soda, no parabens, no PEGs, and no synthetic fragrance.
Pros: The Deodorant Gel is very light in scent (I tried eucalyptus, but it also comes fragrance-free), which was a nice change from my very overpowering usual deodorant (which even other people can smell). It also dries extremely fast and leaves no clothing stains or messes behind, which my current deodorant does. It’s also well-priced for a clean deodorant.
Cons: Because it contains acids, you should not use it after you shave. So, you will need to keep another deodorant on hand or wait to apply it.
Will I buy it again?: Yes. Having used The Deodorant Gel for a while now, I am pretty hooked on it. I absolutely love the price, the clear gel formulation, the scent, and the performance.
The Neck Serum
About: The Neck Serum is both a moisturizer and a daily treatment infused with a 9% peptide blend featuring five (5) peptides, including Niacinamide (Vitamin B3), Squalane, and Rosewater, at clinically-proven concentrations to trigger the skin’s own ability to create collagen.
Pros: First, it smells absolutely divine — I’m guessing from the Rosewater. It’s so very subtle in scent. It also spreads and absorbs really quickly and easily, and it is not sticky, thick, or uncomfortable in any way. It also tested really well in clinical studies.
Cons: While I can often see improvements to the skin on my face from serums, I struggle to see that change on my skin, so I just can’t really tell whether this is working personally. It’s also pretty expensive. (But you can get 10% off when you use my code JULESB10.)
Will I buy it again?: Probably not. I would be more inclined to do so if it came as part of a set and/or if I’m feeling particularly fearful about aging.
The Scalp Serum
About: The Scalp Serum is a watery serum that has a 5% Biomimetic Peptide Blend that supports hair growth and minimizes thinning, as well as 1% Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Acid for hydration and 1% Green Tea Extract for relief from itching and flaking.
Pros: I actually have some thinning near my temples and have used Rogaine on and off for years, so The Scalp Serum definitely interested me as a possible alternative. I have been using it almost daily for several months now, and I love how light it is. There is zero greasiness, stickiness, or any residue left behind. I saw some improvement in my hair in the areas where I used it.
Cons: While I saw some improvement in my hair in the areas where I used it, I didn’t see any more than I see from Rogaine, which is a lot cheaper and doesn’t irritate my skin at all either.
Will I buy it again?: Maybe, but probably not. Since Rogaine works just as well for me and is much cheaper, I will probably stick with that. However, I do note that The Scalp Serum appears to be formulated better for sensitive skin (no alcohol, silicone, fragrance, and it’s hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, etc.), so if you have sensitive skin, this may be the better option for you personally.
The verdict: Is Necessaire worth it?
Necessaire products are worth it because they are clean, they are sustainable, they contain vitamins that improve your skin, they work well on sensitive skin and conditions like eczema, they do not contain animal-derived ingredients, they smell great, and they feel luxurious.
