This is an all-inclusive J.Crew capsule wardrobe for SUMMER! It's filled with bestsellers and must-haves for a classic and timeless preppy closet that will take you from this year through the next several years.
When I think of a J.Crew capsule wardrobe, I don't think of a set group of items you buy together and then mix and match in a very minimalist wardrobe. I just think of seasonal staples -- things that go with what you already have and things that will stay in style for years to come for those with preppy leanings. So, that's the intent behind how I share these pieces.
I first came up with the idea for this J. Crew capsule wardrobe post when I analyzed my website data and realized readers were finding my blog with that search term. It made sense -- it's where I have bought most of my clothes since high school and what I share most often in my style posts.
This is a post I intend to update seasonally, so bookmark it and check back for new picks!
J.Crew Capsule Wardrobe for Summer
It's finally time for your closet to meet SUMMER with lighter fabrics and colors, as well as nature-inspired prints!
My J.Crew capsule wardrobe choices for SUMMER are focused on only those items I think you may REALLY need to get you through the next few months, as well as SUMMERS in the future.
Below are my top picks: first, some thoughts on each of them, and then images for you to shop:
This year is ALL about linen and gauze! (You're welcome, coastal grandmothers!)
I personally have this linen beach coverup on my wish list. I've seen it look great on other bloggers!
Coastal grandmothers will love this breezy linen button-down shirt.
I highly recommend this tiered jersey dress. I buy them every year. It's the type of thing you just throw on all the time.
I also love to throw on polo t-shirt dresses. They have been relevant for decades now and make it so easy to look polished and feel cool and comfortable.
My absolute favorite sweater type for Summer is a light tan and white striped sweater. Chef's kiss!
These leather fisherman sandals remind me of styles I wore in the 90s. They are back, and they are forever.
This raffia fold-over clutch bag also feels soo nostalgic of the late 90s and early 00s to me.
Speaking of raffia, I am determined to add raffia or rattan earrings to my collection this year, and these metal and raffia disc earrings fit the bill.
If you're updating your swimsuits, this specific ruffle deep V one piece swimsuit is my absolute FAVORITE! I have one and plan on buying another. If you have a relatively small chest and want something feminine and SUPER flattering, give it a shot. (I always size up one to two sizes because I have a long torso.)
Don't forget to invest in pajamas for warmer weather! These eco-dreamiest short sleeve pajamas are my new absolute favorite pajamas every -- roomy, so soft, and cozy... and they wash really well! Get them in long pants or shorts options.
There may not be a handbag style more classic than a tote, but I also love how this mini Montauk tote bag feels a bit more updated since it's made of straw. Or, you can always go with a super classic canvas medium Montauk tote for the beach and other Summer adventures.
Bucket hats are BACK, but can we now agree that they should really always be in style?
I love to include button-downs each season and this ruffled short-sleeve button-down top is just unique enough to show some flair but stay classic.
