My Favorite Things

I know I'm not Oprah, but doesn't everyone have a list of favorite things they swear by and want to share with everyone they know?!

I’m the type of person who loves to shop and will try out anything and everything that is hyped up, so I have tested my share of products before compiling this list.  I’m really into preppy/classic style, clean beauty and being more sustainable, so you will see a lot of that type of stuff here.

These are a few of my absolute favorite things -- the best of the best -- in the categories: bookish stuff, comfortable style, beauty and home.

Scroll and click through the Pinterest widget to shop, and read why I love every item below it:

Bookish Stuff

Bibliophile: Popular with my readers. the coffee table book every book lover needs! It's filled with useful bookish lists and lots of pretty bookish illustrations. Every time I post it on Instagram, I get lots of requests about it. Check the current price on Amazon.

Homesick "Book Club" candle: the most divinely comforting soft orange and nutmeg scent for reading.

AirPods: The product I never knew I needed in my life. I only bought them because I had a credit at the AT&T store, but they ended up being another game changer for me. They make listening to audiobooks sooo much easier and without the burden of getting tangled in wires or dragging an iPhone around. One of my favorite ways to use them is when I am cleaning and doing errands around the house. I can bounce all around without carrying my iPhone or not being able to hear as I move around.

  • Buying tip: If these AirPods are currently on any sort of sale, you are almost assuredly getting a good deal.

Light-up bookmark: A CHEAP win! We use these daily in our house for reading in dim lighting. It's such a simple quick fix to a common reading problem that it's a no-brainer to buy. Check the current price on Amazon.

Comfortable Style

Spanx faux leather and velvet leggings: Bestsellers. These are soo slimming with compression, and they are thick, luxe and perfect for a night out. Totally worth it. My confidence goes way up when I put them on. I size up one full size.

Barefoot Dreams cardigans: Blogger favorite. These live up to the hype! They sort of feel like chenille and are just as soft and cozy as everyone said they would be. I find them to be true to size or a bit large.

For more information, check out "Is the Barefoot Dreams cardigan worth it?"

  • Buying tip: If these specific cardigans are currently on any sort of sale, grab them. Sales are rare and they sell out REALLY fast when on sale.

Dudley Stephens fleece tops: Blogger favorite. They are so versatile and cozy, and can be dressed up or down. The clean lines make them look so chic either way. I wear the Brighton style, because I like a lower boatneck, in the velo fleece (which is thicker and more like a traditional fleece than the terry) because I am always cold. I find them to be true to size.

Tretorns: These have always been my absolute favorite preppy classic sneakers for the weekends, and I wear them constantly. They will never go out of style.

L.L. Bean Wicked Good Slippers: Bestseller. I wear these daily! They are so warm and comfy, and my whole body feels warmer when I’m wearing them, which is so important to me since I’m always cold. They run true to size.  I would recommend that half sizes size down. For more, read my full review of L.L. Bean Wicked Good Slippers.

  • Buying tip: A few times a year, L.L. Bean has a discount code (check here). If there's a current code, grab them and rest assured you are getting a good deal. You can usually also sign up for their email list to get a discount code.

Warby Parker blue light glasses: The most popular lifestyle item on my blog.  I sell a pair of these almost every day and wrote an in-depth post about my experience with Warby Parker blue light glasses for daily use at the computer/Kindle/iPad. They have been extremely crucial for me in working from home on my small laptop and dealing with my dry eyes. I am glad I chose them for quality, comfort and style, after a bad experience with a cheap pair.

J.Crew Factory sweater blazer: Blogger favorite. This sweater blazer forever changed the comfort factor of my workwear so much that I have every color they sell. I wear it over dresses and with dress pants. In the summer, I just roll up the sleeves a bit.

  • Buying tip: J.Crew Factory is ALWAYS running sales. Check here for current discount codes.

Beauty

Olive & June nail products: These popular nail products have transformed my nails and cuticles (especially grateful for that part), and the price points are excellent.  My review of the manicure kit and my review of the pedicure kit are two of the most popular lifestyle posts on my blog. These products are great for those looking to spend less at the nail salon but still get that professional quality look.

Revlon brush hairdryer: #1 Bestseller on Amazon and one of my favorite Amazon purchases. This cost-effective dryer brush is a best seller that anyone can easily use to get the volume and shine of a salon blow-dry at home. I like it better than the dryer I paid 3x the price for. Whenever I share it on social media, I get so many DMs from people that love it too. It's best for those who don't have extremely thick hair.

Foreo Luna cleansing tool: A FabFitFun pick. Facial cleansing tools cured my years of teenage and early adult acne. This one deep cleans makeup out of my pores and keeps my skin clear, yet there is no need for replacement brushes like other similar tools, so it's a one-time investment that's a must in my beauty routine.

Becca Undereye Corrector: #1 Bestseller. This is a must-have, life-changing product for me, as it instantly corrects and brightens dark undereye circles, which I have always had.

  • Buying Tip: Becca Cosmetics website generally offers free shipping and has a discount code when you sign up for their emails. And they are going out of business in September 2021, so stock up now!

Beauty Protector detangler: #1 Bestseller with 145,000+ reviews. This product, which I am pretty sure is the bestselling and highest rated product on Birchbox, changed my life. It's simply the only thing that has solved my lifelong tangled hair problem. Cruelty-free. Paraben-free. Phthalate-free. Sulfate-free. I use it with a detangling brush.

EcoTools makeup brushes: These environmentally friendly brushes come at drug store prices, but they work better than the professional set I purchased for $$$$. I can't imagine using any other brushes. Check the current prices.

Home

ChappyWrap: Blogger favorite. Worth every penny. The absolute best blanket on earth. Extra-large, super soft, cozy and warm, and washes really well. My cats fight over it every time it comes out! You will never use another blanket again. For more, read my full review of the ChappyWrap blanket.

Philips SmartSleep Wake-up Alarm Clock:  Gradually simulates a sunrise over the half-hour prior to your alarm going off, and the alarm sounds are nice and peaceful as well. If you struggle to wake up in the dark, it makes a HUGE difference, and you don’t feel like a ton of bricks hit you when the alarm goes off. And while there are cheaper ones available from no-name brands, I found them, quite honestly, to be impossible to program junk. My understanding is that this is the only clinically proven and recommended one.

Nutribullet blender: This is an everyday kitchen gadget in my house. It's so small to store and easy to use and clean for everything from smoothies to sauces. I also store my creations in the cups.

The Laundress laundry products: These popular higher-end laundry products are non-toxic and work really well, even for dry clean only items. To boot, they are made by scientifically genius women. I consider quality home laundering to be worth the investment in the long run, as you dry clean less and your clothes last longer with good products. And their stain treatments have never let me down, even with red wine.

Dyson cordless vacuum: Popular. This vacuum is an investment, but it's another gadget I use every day because it's just that easy and works so well. Totally beats running around with a dust buster.
