But I'm a Gilmore!: Stories and Experiences of Honorary Gilmore Girls: Cast, Crew, and Fans by Taryn Dryfhout is THE new must-have book for the biggest Gilmore Girls fans around.

About But I'm a Gilmore!

But I'm a Gilmore! is a never-before-seen collection of 538 pages filled with stories and experiences from members of: (1) the cast and crew who worked on Gilmore Girls; (2) creators who have turned their interest in the show into some kind of work, hobby, or passion project; and (3) Gilmore Girls fans who found meaning in the show.

And guess what?! -- I'm in it!!

As you may know, I host The Rory Gilmore Book Club via the Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge on this blog (and on Instagram @TheRoryGilmoreBookClub), in which we read a book of your choice from the Gilmore Girls book list of 500+ books mentioned on the show on a specific theme each month.

A few months ago, the author of But I'm a Gilmore!, Taryn Dryfhout, reached out and asked me to write an essay about the club for the book and, of course, I said, "YES!"

Here's a sneak peek at one of my favorite parts of my essay:

[T]here's a real synergy between Gilmore Girls and book lovers.  After all, Rory is very likely the only television protagonist to ever be called a "book tease" and to exclaim: "I can't believe we get to sit around and talk about books and get graded!"

In other words, Rory is kind of a literary superhero. The kind whose habit is taking a book with her everywhere she goes.   The kind whose boyfriend is willing to watch her browse bookstores for six or seven hours. The kind who even loves the smell of books.

Besides me, you'll hear from the following in But I'm a Gilmore!:

  • Your favorite actors
  • Important crew members
  • A woman who opened a Gilmore Girls themed furniture store
  • The Fan Fest Society
  • A fan who had a Gilmore Girls wedding
  • A soldier who discovered the show while deployed in Iraq
  • A high school teacher who recreated the Festival of Living Arts in her history classroom
  • And more!

It's basically a collective love letter to Gilmore Girls.

A must-have for every true fan, and I'm thrilled to finally be able to share it with you.
